Phosphorescent
sessionNotes
Phosphorescent is guitarist/vocalist Matthew Houck, who previously recorded four full-length albums and an EP under this moniker. Houck and his current crew, Scott Stapleton, Jeff Bailey, Chris Marine and Jesse Ainslie, rolled through Headgear, laying down a few previously released tunes and a Willie Nelson cover. Amazingly, Willie extended a personal invitation to Houck to play Farm Aid 2009. This freqControl session was engineered by, our good friend, Alex Lipsen. Afterward, the band camped out at Headgear to work with Lipsen on basic tracking for their upcoming album, “Here’s To Taking It Easy”, scheduled for release on May 11, 2010.

in awe of David Gray and his story.. told transparently in heart stopping, gut wrenching, beautifuly raw, enchanting harmony. Soft, bittersweet, honest, painful, truthful notes, sung in a voice that stops your thinking, worrying, breathing. soothes you. finds you. awakens you. relates to you in the most volurnable way.. Closer than your lover, or best friend, family member,or the you that you’ve been playig. his music makes you want to examine the thoughts you hide deep inside, the passions you try to supresss, the dreams you stopped dreaming. the one love you want so desperately to find/understand/forget/hold on to/fight for/believe in/grow young with. my soul found excitement, childlike wonder. happily ever after.. in the monologue of his preformance. i reconnected with the poet in me. the romantic. the emotional feeler. I fell in love with myself, a self that was so focused on giving love to others, she forgot who she was, what she wanted and most importantly, how good it felt to let down the walls, breathe deep, dance like no ones watching, sing at the top of your lungs, close your eyes, soak it in, smile..breathe...smile....brrreatthee. love. my core. finding refuge, comfort, and recharge in another souls limitless expression. find your moment. find you in the layers of ickiness youve burried them in. reconnect, reconsider. remember. release. smile. life is made up of thousands of little moments.. this one, you will never forget.
