Phosphorescent

Phosphorescent

Phosphorescent is guitarist/vocalist Matthew Houck, who previously recorded four full-length albums and an EP under this moniker.  Houck and his current crew, Scott Stapleton, Jeff Bailey, Chris Marine and Jesse Ainslie, rolled through Headgear, laying down a few previously released tunes and a Willie Nelson cover.  Amazingly, Willie extended a personal invitation to Houck to play Farm Aid 2009.  This freqControl session was engineered by, our good friend, Alex Lipsen.  Afterward, the band camped out at Headgear to work with Lipsen on basic tracking for their upcoming album, “Here’s To Taking It Easy”, scheduled for release on May 11, 2010.

Living Days

Living Days

Living Days is Stephonik, Gustavo, Josh, Lacy and Kikei.  At the core, is a tight sense of pop rhythm.  On the fringes, a dissonant sense of complexity.  Living Days has been honing their songs in Brooklyn, NY, recently recording a full-length for future release.  With a live show that is both haunting and bombastic, Living Days stopped in to Headgear Recording for a freqControl session, recording and filming a version of their song “Go Oblivion,” as well as two previously unrecorded tracks.

The Last Town Chorus

The Last Town Chorus

The Last Town Chorus is Megan Hickey, who has previously released two records under this performing name.  After recording her last full-length, at home in Brooklyn, and mixing it at Headgear, Megan toured extensively in America, Europe and Australia.  For this session, Megan enlisted the help of a few friends (Byron Isaacs, Rich Hinman, Alan Bezozi and Aaron Lee Tasjan) to round out the band, recording four original, unreleased tunes.  These songs were the first versions ever recorded, for possible inclusion on her next record.  We can’t wait!
