Name: Kim Ann Foxman
Occupation: Vocalist for Hercules and Love Affair / DJ

What was your first concert?
My first concert was Menudo when i was 8 years old.  That was 1985, and Ricky Martin was in the band at that time.  I went with my next door neighbor who was 5 years older than me, and as a souvenir, I bought a Menudo watch with pictures of their heads on it.

What was your first album?
Fleetwood Mac’s “Tango in the Night”.  It was on cassette tape and my uncle gave it to me, along with my first walkman.

What was your first instrument?
The ukulele.  Everyone in Hawaii, as a child, has ukulele lessons in elementary school.

What was the first album you bought for yourself?
The very first tape I bought myself was the soundtrack to the movie called Hiding Out, but only because the song “Catch Me I’m Falling” by Pretty Poison was on it.  I was CRAZY for that song.

What’s your first song on a Sunday morning?
I have so many, “Is It All Over My Face” by Loose Joints makes me happy in the morning.

What’s the first song on a bbq summer party jam mix?
Snap’s “Rhythm is a Dancer”.  Nevermind easing into it.  This puts me in the mood for BBQ fun right away and I’m ready to be silly.

What was your first band name?
Toobit was the name of an indie electronic band I was in when I was living in San Francisco in the 90’s.  We played 10 shows, then it was over.  It was pretty cheesey, but fun.

What’s the first song that comes up when you put your mp3 player on shuffle?
Well… The first thing that came up was my Rosetta Stone Spanish lesson 4: Pronounciation, Level 2.

What was the first music video that you can remember?
I think it was The Clash, “Rock the Casbah”.

What song would have been on the soundtrack for your first kiss?
That would be something totally like a slow jam…maybe “Closer Than Just Friends” by Surface.

What was the first song that you chose to perform for a talent show?
I tried to lip sync and do a dance routine to “Like a Virgin” for a Christian summer fun program talent show, but they didn’t let me, and I didn’t know why at the time.
