Scott Norton

Scott Norton

Scott grew up listening to his dad’s LP collection in the summers, always wondering how those sounds that came from the stereo were made. Later he would make music of his own, and became the kid who everyone handed the manual to, whenever they got a new piece of gear. Once it was time to record, there would be more gear and an insatiable curiosity about the process of making a great recording.

Flash forward a few years, to a studio in Brooklyn, where records are being made by bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Animal Collective, as well as a little video project called freqControl. Scott is an Engineer, Headgear studio owner, and still incredibly curious.

Brendan Coon

Brendan Coon

Brendan appeared in the first ever freqControl session, with his band Ludlow Lions. After completing his position as "Head Intern" at Brooklyn's Headgear Recording Studio, Brendan leapt at the chance to be part of the freqControl team. A self-taught musician, recording studio addict, amateur cameraman and music fanatic, Brendan puts his two cents in where and when needed. Currently, he is spreading the word about the latest Ludlow Lions full-length - No Stories. Brendan is also working on a solo record - a love letter to Iceland, its culture and its environment - and other music under the name Toss Power Traps. He co-wrote and performed on the first single from Holly Miranda's LP The Magician’s Private Library released on XL, a song called "Forest Green Oh Forest Green." He's also playing drums in the new band Joy By Proxy. Brendan is also looking to score for tv/film someday, and thinks he has written "the perfect theme for the revolutionary car that weans us off oil." So once someone invents it, he's got the tune! He also shares a love of chocolate and burgers with Scott, but usually not together. Well...

Anthony Cardazone

Anthony Cardazone

In and out of bands since junior High School, Anthony is a home recording enthusiast, and a vocalist who dabbles with guitar and keyboards. He is also rumored to have played a little saxophone. Sometimes found hanging around Headgear Recording Studio trying to absorb recording knowledge, he usually just ends up drinking too much coffee and giving rubs and scratches to Mazzy. Depending on the market, Anthony is also an on-again, off-again technology worker where he specializes in the utilization of corporate infrastructure to surf the web and avoiding accountants. He decided to major in English in college because it didn’t require practice, talent or specific knowledge, and will eventually continue work on his 3rd unfinished novel, which obviously involves music.

H. H. Coram

H. H. Coram

H.H. Coram, amateur cluster balloonist, photographer and aspiring musician, documents his thoughts on music and band life for freqControl. The following announcement from this week's The Montana Standard, Page Seven: "Secretive and eccentric H.H. Coram will be writing a blog documenting his journey through a music career that has yet to formulate. Little is known about Coram's background and activities, as he often declines interview opportunities and spends the majority of his time on his secluded, local estate. Coram is rumored to possess the secret notebooks of artist Robert Mapplethorpe, who famously claimed to have hidden cameras across the globe, to continue taking pictures after his death. Information obtained by this reporter supports Coram’s use of similar techniques, as well as hints that his enthusiasm for cluster ballooning is second only to his photography. Understandably, said techniques have made him a controversial figure in the world of cluster ballooning. In recent interviews, prominent members of the cluster ballooning community have begun referring to the elusive figure as "H.H. Conman," claiming that ‘these elaborate tactics have led Coram to secretly drain his fortune, while wasting the public's time with these stunts. It gives the industry a bad name.’ After loosing heated competitions to sworn nemesis John Ninomiya at both Buffalo Trace and Carolina Fest, as well as reportedly poor sales at his last 3 photography exhibits in Copenhagen, Coram has apparently turned his attention toward his music career. Many critics suspect that Coram is splitting his time between his new blogger duties and a last ditch attempt to fund his life long dream, the wildly denounced Disco Ball MT. project." What an absolute loon! We're glad to have his exclusive blog as part of freqControl.
